Prevention Council

Violence and crime are issues that concern everyone in Germany and the world in different ways. Hofheim am Taunus is not an island of bliss.

In 1998, the town council recommended that the magistrate work together with representatives of socially relevant groups within the framework of a prevention council to reduce lawbreaking, create a positive sense of security among the population and achieve the most rational approach to crime possible.

Since then, the Hofheim Prevention Council has been working continuously to achieve these goals, for a long time the only one in the Main-Taunus district.

The main task of the Prevention Council is to develop effective approaches to the prevention and avoidance of crime and to implement these in cooperation with social and governmental forces. Examples of this include the video protection system at the bus station, the comprehensive prevention concept involving all parties at large city festivals to prevent alcohol abuse, especially by young people, and information events on burglary prevention together with the police.

The Prevention Council meets under the chairmanship of the First City Councillor and Head of the Department of Public Safety and Order.

In order to identify possible causes of crime at an early stage, but also to be able to react to possible subjective feelings of insecurity, we ask for your cooperation. Please support us in our efforts to improve safety and the quality of life in Hofheim!

News from the Hofheim Prevention Council

November 2025: Hofheim: Watch out for the trap! Theater for senior citizens

The theater group "Die Lachfalten" chooses a different path, bringing topics to the stage in episodes; the play "Vorsicht Falle!" on the subject of trickery shows the latest tricks of thieves with heart, brain and humor, bringing not only fun but also exciting insights to the stage in very different ways. True to the motto: "Laugh, live, learn."

The prevention council of the Main-Taunus district was able to get the volunteer theater group to perform on Saturday, November 8, 2025 in the small hall of the Hofheim town hall. Interested parties could enquire about free tickets at the town office/town hall in all municipalities. Admission was free because the expenses were covered by the city of Hofheim and the "Citizens and Police" association However, the volunteer Lachfalten were happy to receive a donation to cover their expenses.

The event was excellently framed by the SfS of the city of Hofheim and the prevention department of the Main-Taunus police department (Florian Meerheim) with information and information brochures.

Around 300 citizens from the municipalities were excellently entertained and the packed hall got its money's worth. Mayor Wilhelm Schultze and District Administrator Michael Cyriax got the audience in the mood for the event. Many helpers were needed to make this successful afternoon possible and were rewarded by the full hall.

It is to be hoped that one or two municipalities will be inspired by this wonderful event to invite the "Lachfalten" to the Main-Taunus district once again.
